What happened to water when it boiled?
When water is boiled, the heat energy is transferred to the molecules of water, which begin to move more quickly. Eventually, the molecules have too much energy to stay connected as a liquid. When this occurs, they form gaseous molecules of water vapor, which float to the surface as bubbles and travel into the air.
Why did the water diminished after boiling?
When atmospheric pressure increases, the boiling point becomes higher, and when atmospheric pressure decreases (as it does when elevation increases), the boiling point becomes lower. Pressure on the surface of water tends to keep the water molecules contained.
Why does boiling point decrease under vacuum?
A liquid in a partial vacuum has a lower boiling point than when that liquid is at atmospheric pressure. At that temperature, the vapor pressure of the liquid becomes sufficient to overcome atmospheric pressure and allow bubbles of vapor to form inside the bulk of the liquid.
